The Story of a Creative Frustration |

Health Services International is a corporation with the mission to help Canadians receive a full range of health services, with no waiting period. The idea of Health Services International came to Ms. Lucie Vermette when she had to wait six frustrating months to receive diagnosis for a serious illness. In spite of several attempts, she could not find a specialist who could take her for diagnosis of what she feared was a serious condition. Once she was finally examined, the diagnosis was as she feared, a potentially serious ailment. She received surgery within 4 days. These days, it seems that you have to be in an emergency case before you can get medical care. Many conditions could be treated more easily, at less expense, if the diagnosis was reached more quickly. When Ms. Vermette discussed her idea with Mr. Alexandre Rheaume, he told her about the health care system in Cuba, with a reputation for being one of the finest in the world. For over a year, Ms. Vermette and Mr. Rheaume visited clinics and hospitals in Cuba, met with doctors and surgeons, as well as hospital administrators. Finally an agreement was signed between Cubanacan Turismo y Salud and Health Services International. On January 16th of 2007, Health Services International began sending Canadians to Cuba for medical services. Since then, hundreds of Canadians have taken advantage of this fast and professional service. There is an alternative to waiting and worrying. |
